Omaha Victims of Gun 'Control'

If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

USA Today reported on page 1 of the Dec. 6 issue, "Gunman's rampage kills 9, including self."  Another madman went on a killing spree in a mall in Omaha, Nebraska, packed with Christmas shoppers.

The murderer killed as many poor souls as he saw fit; the bloodbath was stopped only at his own choice, when he turned the gun on himself.  That's 8 more innocents who died because of gun control.

Will liberals never learn?  No matter how much money we spend on cops, they can't be everywhere at once.  Terrorists and madmen can strike anywhere and anytime they choose, the incident was over before police could get there.  The only way we can find protection is to protect ourselves.

Some years ago, the media reported that a licensed gun owner was eating with her parents in a restaurant in a "No Guns Allowed" mall, when someone tried to rob the place  Things went wrong; when the bullets stopped flying, her dad and two others were dead.  "I'll never get over being sorry for obeying the law and leaving my gun in the car," she said.  "I'd have stopped him before he killed my dad."

At the time, the newspapers were less rabidly anti-gun than they are now.  If someone in Omaha were to tell the papers he could have stopped the shooter if he'd been armed, they'd ignore it.

It's possible that we'd be a safer society if criminals couldn't get hold of guns, but American has far more guns than people.  Any criminal can get his hands on a gun at any time.  Gun control laws work only on law-abiding citizens.

Criminals prefer unarmed victims.  The Amish schoolhouse, Columbine, Virginia Tech, Omaha.... How many innocents will have to die before we wise up?

If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?  Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.

I wish my liberal buddies had the same stance as me on gun control.

This is an interesting phrase someone recently sent me: "Know guns, know peace, know safety.  No guns, no peace, no safety"  Think about it for a few minutes.  It is QUITE good.

Is this satire? If not then your logic has serious flaws.

What flaws, good sir?

Or are you just another liberal who says "that doesn't work" whenever you get annoyed about an argument you cannot intelligently contradict?

Let me guess...  A flat tax is unfair to the poor too, right?

Only in the US can such an argument be used without invoking outright laughter. More guns = less gun crime? Yeah, right...

Ever wonder why there is less violent crime in other western countries? Or why school shoot-ups are fewer and less deadly? No, not possibly gun control.

By your logic, if we were to encourage gun ownership, or perhaps put a gun in the hands of every adult, then there would surely be fewer gun deaths... Do you REALLY think that?

Wake up, there is no more frontier in America, the old west is gone.

Jason makes the usual arguments against the right to keep and bear arms. He ignores the evidence of low gun crime ratess in heavily-armed societies such as Switzerland and Israel where essentially every house has an automatic weapon. He also ignores the fact that Americans commit more murders with clubs, knives, and other implements per capita than other European countries, this should remind him that guns don't kill people, people kill people.

He also ignores the historical evidence of Japan during the era when a significant fraction of the population carried swords. The death rate and the crime rate were both very low, and the Japanese became a very polite people.

To our sorrow, one of the links we used in an earlier article turns out to be broken. This link
reports the activities of a student group who is lobbying for the right for licensed gun owners to carry guns on campus. They don't want to live in a victim disarmament zone.
